Roger Schmidt: "We showed a good mentality"

Roger Schmidt analyzed Benfica's 0-1 win over Estoril, this Wednesday night, November 9, in Amoreira, in the 4th round of the Portuguese Cup. 

GOOD MENTALITY AND A DISCIPLINED DEFENSE

"Every game is different. We are happy to win. We could have made the match easier, in the first half we had several chances, but today [Wednesday] we were not as effective. With 0-0 at halftime, and when you've already missed several scoring chances, it can be dangerous. We talked about it and the team showed a good mentality, was patient, and at some point, we scored the goal, and that today [Wednesday] was enough because we defended very well, and we were disciplined. We didn't give our opponent any chances to score a goal." 

HAPPY TO HAVE NERES

"I don't know if Neres was expecting to be called up for the Brazilian national team [that will compete in the World Cup]. He is a great player and is always close to an upcoming call-up. In Brazil's last matches he has not participated much, but he is a quality player. Today he scored an important goal. He is our player, and he will stay with us, and I am happy about that. In the future, it is clear that he will be an option for the Brazilian national team." 

HENRIQUE ARAÚJO'S POTENTIAL

"He is great. He has to gain more confidence in the matches and in training. In the first team, he hasn't played that much so far, but he is in training and has been playing games in the B team. He is a great player and a great person, and we are counting on him. He has now played a few times and hopefully, during the season he will take the next step and play more games."
