Di María

His second spell at Benfica began in July 2023, when he was presented as a reinforcement after the end of his contract with Juventus. Di María reunited with the Eagles holding the status of world champion: he helped Argentina win the title in Qatar, in 2022.

Trained at Rosário Central, the forward was signed by Benfica in July 2007 and made his debut on August 29, at the age of 19, in the victory over FC Copenhagen (1-0) in the second leg of the third qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League. In the three years he spent at Benfica, Di María won one National Championship (2009/10) and two League Cups (2008/09 and 2009/10) before being transferred to Real Madrid.

In addition to the Spanish club, the Argentine international also represented Manchester United, PSG, and Juventus, having a top-level career in European football. It is worth noting that, during his time in Spain and France, Di María won 23 club trophies.

Di María's first international appearance for Argentina was on September 6, 2008, when he was taking his first steps at Benfica. Wearing the national team jersey, Di María won a Copa América (2021), a Finalissima (2022), and a World Cup (2022). With the Argentina youth teams, the forward won a U-20 World Cup (2007) and an Olympic gold medal in Beijing (2008).
