The Glorioso inaugurates the Trophy Tour organized by FIFA, which will take the piece created from scratch for the tournament's inaugural edition to the 32 participants.
18 January 2025, 12h00
President Rui Costa with the Club World Cup trophy
The event has a new chapter this Saturday, January 18, when the trophy is on display at the Benfica Official Store at the Estádio da Luz (until 3:00 pm).
The home of the Glorioso is the stage for the first stop on the Trophy Tour organized by FIFA to promote the competition, which will take place in the United States of America between June 14 and July 13, 2025.
Criado de raiz para a edição inaugural do Mundial de Clubes, o troféu é uma peça em ouro de 24 quilates Created from scratch for the inaugural edition of the Club World Cup, the trophy is made of 24-carat gold and features laser-engraved inscriptions of FIFA's 211 member associations, vivid representations of football and texts in 13 languages and Braille, and the approximate position of the planets on May 21, 1904, and June 14, 2025, the day the world governing body was founded and the tournament's kick-off, respectively.
The trophy, inspired by the Periodic Table of chemical elements and the Golden Discs of the Voyager space mission, is intended to unite the planet and symbolizes the past, present and future, preserving the tradition of club football for generations to come.
In the future, the winner of each edition of the Club World Cup will receive a replica of this piece with their name and emblem engraved on it.
In this inaugural edition, Benfica, is in Group C and will play Boca Juniors (in Miami on June 15), Auckland City (in Orlando on June 20) and Bayern Munich (in Charlotte on June 24).
