Otamendi, captain of Benfica's professional football squad, has been included in the Argentina squad for November's international matches to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Leaders of the CONMEBOL (South America) qualifying round, the world champions take to the field at 11:30 pm on November 14 (Thursday) in Paraguay, in a matchday 11 clash scheduled for the Estadio Defensores del Chaco in Asunción.

Then, on matchday 12, the Albiceleste host Peru at 12 am on November 20 (Wednesday). The match will be played at the Estadio Alberto Jacinto Armando, commonly known as La Bombonera, in Buenos Aires.
