Benfica is the world leader in player training

Released on Wednesday, October 30, a study by the Observatory of Football (CIES) places Benfica as the world leader in training, both in terms of the number of footballers nurtured at the Club playing in the 49 best leagues in the world and in the training index drawn up by the organization.

With 94 players spread across 67 clubs and 27 leagues as of October 1, 2024, the Made In Benfica talent is thriving all over the world and allows the club to beat off competition from Argentina's Boca Juniors (93 players) and Spain's Barcelona (81 players), who complete the podium in the CIES ranking.

In the aforementioned study, Benfica also came 1st in the training index drawn up by the organization, which takes into account the official minutes played by players at senior level in the last year, the level of difficulty of the games played (determined by a league coefficient) and the number of points amassed by the teams in the respective leagues.

It should be noted that, for this study, CIES considers the training club to be the first club for which the players have played for at least three consecutive years, between the ages of 15 and 21.
