Benfica Residential Academy opens in the United States

Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Saint Leo University announced on Monday, July 29, the creation of a Benfica Residential Academy in Florida, United States.

The partnership is aimed at the comprehensive development of young players at the Saint Leo University Campus, with trials scheduled for the beginning of August. The Benfica Residential Academy will use six training pitches and will follow a methodology with individualized development plans, inspired by what is done at Benfica Campus.

"The opening of the Benfica Residential Academy in the United States represents a significant milestone in our mission to nurture and develop soccer talent globally. We are excited to bring our proven methodologies and commitment to excellence to young athletes in America, providing them with unparalleled opportunities on and off the field,", said Manuel de Brito, vice-president of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Ed Dadez, president of Saint Leo University, explains that the partnership "is based on the university's mission to help students of all ages grow in mind, body and spirit". "Student-athletes from the United States and around the world will enjoy our beautiful lakeside campus, and will engage in fun student activities, partner with student mentors, attend our restaurants and access other amenities that will add to their experience," he said.
