Sport Lisboa e Benfica informs that it has reached an agreement with St. Truiden VV, from Belgium, for the permanent transfer of the athlete Leo Kokubo.

The keeper has spent six seasons with the eagle on his chest. He arrived at Benfica Campus in 2018/19, as an Under-19, and immediately joined the Benfica Under-23 team, for which he made 54 appearances.

He played 25 games for the B team in the Portuguese second division. In 2020, he was also a UEFA Youth League finalist.

Last season, he was part of SL Benfica's first team.

Over the last six seasons, he has also established himself in Japan's youth teams, culminating in the recent U-23 Asian Cup triumph.

Leo Kokubo is now preparing to take on a new challenge in the Belgian First League, which is why Sport Lisboa e Benfica would like to thank him for his commitment and professionalism over the years, and wish him every success!
