Di María, the Benfica forward, scored the winning goal for Argentina (1-0) in the preparation match for the Copa America against Ecuador, in which he started and captained the world champions. In the match played in the early hours of Monday morning in Chicago, USA, Otamendi was an unused substitute.

At Soldier Field, Di María gave the best sequence to an action that combined speed and precision. In the 40th minute, De Paul received and assisted Romero on the edge of the box, the latter spun to get two defenders out of the way and assisted the Benfica forward, who got in behind everyone to score with his left foot.

Di María came off in the 56th minute, giving way to Lionel Messi and handing him the captain's armband.

In preparation for the 2024 edition of the Copa America, Argentina will play again in the early hours of Saturday, June 15 (1 am in mainland Portugal), against Guatemala at FedEx Field in Landover, United States.

Benfica-Arouca: extended match highlights

Benfica drew (2-2) with Arouca on Sunday, April 13, in a match from matchday 29 of the Liga Betclic, played at the Estádio da Luz and marked by controversial refereeing that penalized the Eagles. At half-time there was time to pay tribute to two-time European champion José Augusto (who turned 88), Miccoli (the former player returned to the Cathedral) and the Inspiradoras, who became five-time national champions on Saturday.

Miccoli returned to the Estádio da Luz, where, on Sunday, April 13, during half-time of the Benfica-Arouca (2-2) match of round 29 of the Liga Betclic, he once again set foot on the pitch. Proud and grateful to the Benfica fans and the club, the former striker - who wore the Manto Sagrado in 2005/06 and 2006/07 - was greeted with applause from the fans, who watched images of some of his best moments with the eagle on his chest, in this beautiful tribute! “Go Benfica! Always,” shared the former player.

A heartfelt tribute to José Augusto!

Two-time European champion, synonymous with the Sport Lisboa e Benfica mystique, José Augusto was honored on Sunday, April 13, the day of his 88th birthday. During half-time of the Benfica-Arouca match, on matchday 29 of the Liga Betclic, he was applauded by the Benfiquistas and thanked for the gesture from the Presidential Tribune. There, in the box, in the presence of President Rui Costa, among José Augusto's friends and family, Happy Birthday was sung to one of the undeniable names in the history of the Glorioso.
