Álvaro Carreras signs for Benfica until 2029

Sport Lisboa e Benfica has exercised its option to buy Álvaro Carreras with Manchester United, which was included in the agreement signed with the English club in January for the permanent signing of Álvaro Carreras. The left-back has since signed a five-year contract with the club until 2029.

Álvaro Carreras was happy to stay at Glorioso. "I'm very happy for the trust they've placed in me. I've wanted to keep wearing this jersey ever since I arrived, and I want to say thank you next year by fighting for every possible title with the support of the fans. Born in Ferrol, Galicia, on March 23, 2003, Álvaro Carreras, Glorioso's winter signing for the 2023/24 season, made his debut with an eagle on his chest on January 24, 2024, in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

Having started his career with the Sacred Mantle, Álvaro Carreras made a total of 16 appearances for Benfica - 7 of which as a starter - in the second half of the season. The full-back made 11 appearances in the Liga Betclic, 3 in the Europa League, 1 in the Portuguese Cup and 1 in the League Cup.

During this period, 21-year-old Álvaro Carreras also had the chance to score his first goal for the Eagles. On the evening of April 22, in the Algarve, the left-back contributed with a goal to Benfica's victory over Farense.
