Marcos Leonardo joins Benfica!

Forward Marcos Leonardo, 20, is a new addition to Sport Lisboa e Benfica's professional football team. The Brazilian forward arrives at the Club coming from Santos, signs a contract valid for five and a half seasons, until 2029, and will wear the jersey number 36. 

"I'm very happy that Benfica chose me and also that I chose Benfica. It's a great club in Portugal and many Brazilian players have made a name for themselves here, like Jonas, for example. I hope to repeat their feat, score lots of goals, help the team and win lots of titles," he said to BTV.

The Brazilian striker has been working on his shooting ability and his sense of goal for a long time, as he confessed when discussing the fact that he can shoot with both feet.

"Ever since I was a kid, I trained with both feet, shooting right-footed and left-footed. My father helped me a lot with my work off the pitch, and that's helped me get here today", he acknowledged.

Marcos Leonardo promises "humility and hard work" to the Benfica fans.

"With a lot of humility, I'm going to arrive, work, help the team and all the staff to score a lot of goals, help with assists and contribute in the best possible way,"he said.

The Cathedral has already impressed the striker. "When I entered the Stadium [ Estádio da Luz] I was delighted! It's a beautiful stadium, perfect!"
