Benfica Team

This Tuesday, October 31, at 8:15 pm, at the Estádio Municipal de Arouca, Benfica begins its campaing in the League Cup, where it is the club with the most achievements, with seven trophies won in eight finals. The Eagles are in Group B, which also includes AVS.

It's the eagles' turn to play in their fifth competitive front in the 2023/24 season, the League Cup, having already won the Super Cup.

The debut in the competition will be against Arouca, a side that took part in the Conference League qualifying rounds, currently in 15th place in the Liga Betclic, with six points in nine matches. This will be Benfica's 66th game in the competition, where they have scored 129 goals (1.98 goals per game).

In Group B of the League Cup, however, the team from the district of Aveiro has already played and won by 1-2 against AVS on matchday 1. This win gives them the lead with three points.

This is also the Eagles' first match with Arouca in the competition since they met in 2014/15 at the Estádio da Luz, a match Benfica won 4-0 in the group stage.

In addition to the clash with Arouquenses, Benfica will also host AVS in a match scheduled for December 21, at 8:15 pm, on matchday 3 of the group.

The winner of the group will play in the final four at the Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Stadium in Leiria from January 23 to 27, 2024.
