BPLAY INTERVIEW

In Vizela, on Saturday night, September 16, António Silva reached the milestone of 50 official games for Sport Lisboa e Benfica's first team. The central defender promises even more!

50 GAMES

"It's a great feeling. My goal has always been to play my first game, and today [Sunday] I'm here talking about fifty games. I'm very happy. Fifty games of a lot of commitment, which is always what I try to do in every game, and I hope to add to that, of course. Fifty games at the start of a second season, so clearly I'm very happy to have reached this milestone."

DEBUT

"I remember that when the manager told me I was going to play, I was overjoyed. I called my parents straight away to tell them the news, and they were just as happy as I was. And today to have played fifty games is a source of pride for me, for my family because it's always been what we wanted, we've worked together, and for them too it's undoubtedly very important. I remember it perfectly... A game in which I was yellow carded after three or four minutes. I was nervous before the game, trying to put in a good performance. I think afterward, as the game went on, things went very well, and I think it was a very positive debut."

MATCH 50 WAS AGAINST VIZELA

"I knew that if I played it, it would be game fifty. It's clearly a very special game. Above all, it's about the team's display, especially in the first half, and winning the league, which is our main objective."

CAPTAIN

"It's a special feeling. It was also a goal that came true. I wore the armband many times in the youth teams and I think that, as a leader, I can always give a bit to the team, also because of my youth, I can also help the team. I like to feel that responsibility, my teammates have put that responsibility on me, and I'm very happy about that."

ANALYSIS

"I think it was a very natural journey. Ever since the Bessa game, I've been trying to do my best on the pitch. Of course, there have been games where I've made mistakes, but I think that's normal, not just at my age, it's normal in a football match. The games have gone on, things have gone well, and I've been playing for now, but I have to keep working because there's very strong competition in my position and also in the other positions on the pitch. Benfica are full of great players, and the least I can do is work as hard as I can."

FC SALZBURG

"Benfica have been used to putting in great performances in the Champions League in recent years, and we want to get off on the right foot. We're playing at home, we clearly want to win, that's the goal."
