Benfica players celebrating
Bah, Morato and Florentino were the new additions to the last starting eleven of the season, compared to the derby of the previous round, to the detriment of António Silva (serving a game suspension), Chiquinho and Neres.
At 7', Bah, on the right, crossed for Gonçalo Ramos' thunderous header (1-0), in the goal area.
At 28', from a Santa Clara's lateral free kick, João Mário, received the ball intercepted by Grimaldo, ran to the opposite midfield, combined with Rafa, received it again to assist Rafa (2-0). The number 27's shot, in the heart of the box, bounced off an opposing defender before ending up in the back of the net for the islanders.
Key moments
The beginning of the second half was once again marked by the way Benfica controlled the game, looking for offensive solutions with quality passing and, this time, at a lower pace.
The 3-0 came in the 60th minute, when Grimaldo converted a penalty. It all started on 57' when João Neves crossed, on the right, and the ball was intercepted by Adriano's left arm. Referee Rui Costa initially called a corner kick, but after the VAR alert, he saw the images and pointed to the penalty spot. The left-back then shot hard, Gabriel Batista touched the ball, but it only stopped in the back of the goal.
With the "Benfica is champion!" heard until the end of the match, the eagles managed the possession of the ball, controlling the game and had in Samuel Soares another debutant from the academy in the first team, with the Benfiquistas, euphoric, celebrating the 38th national championship before and after the end of the game!
