Diogo Ribeiro, Benfica's swimmer, ensured this Thursday, March 30, his presence in the 2024 Olympic Games, breaking the national record of the 50-meter freestyle, with 21.87 seconds, during the qualifying rounds of the Youth National Championships, which takes place at the Olympic Swimming Pool Complex in Funchal, Madeira, until April 2nd.

Diogo Ribeiro, 18 years old, was the first Portuguese athlete to ensure his presence in Paris 2024, having beaten the times of Andrii Govorov (Vitória SC) and teammates Miguel Nascimento and Miguel Marques.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.
