João Mário, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's midfielder, was voted MVP of the Liga Bwin 2022/23 in December/January. The Portuguese international collected 28.89% of the votes from the competition's head coaches.

The eagles number 20 featured as a starter in the six matches played (four wins, a draw and a defeat) by the team in December and January, facing SC Braga (a), Portimonense (h), Sporting (h), Santa Clara (a), Paços de Ferreira (a) and Arouca (a). He amassed 486 minutes and four goals.

João Mário

João Mário was the most voted and in 2nd place came Fran Navarro (Gil Vicente) with 17.04%, ahead of Oday Dabbagh (Arouca) and Galeno (FC Porto), who shared the third place with 5.93% of the votes attributed by the coaches.

The Portuguese international, who had already been elected Liga Bwin's Best Midfielder of the Month in December/January, succeeds Gonçalo Ramos, the forward distinguished in October/November.
