António Silva, Gonçalo Ramos and João Mário are the Benfica players called up by national team coach Fernando Santos to represent Portugal in the 2022 World Cup, in Qatar.

At 5:30 pm this Thursday, November 10, at the Cidade do Futebol, Fernando Santos revealed the names of the 26 players chosen to wear the Portuguese jersey in the upcoming World Cup, the first organized during the winter season.

Under-21 international António Silva makes his debut in style in a senior national team coach's squad list, an award for his performance with the eagle on his chest in the 2022/23 season, in which, to date, he totals 1527 minutes in Benfica's first team ( with three goals scored).

Benfica's top scorer this season, Gonçalo Ramos was chosen to be part of the offensive options. In the 1379 minutes played in 2022/23, the Benfica number 88 scored 12 goals and made three assists. With 18 appearances for the U-21 national team, he is ready to play for the senior national team.

Another player in high rotation this season (with 1915 minutes played, nine goals scored and eight assists), João Mário completes the trio of Benfica players in the list of athletes chosen by Fernando Santos to face the 2022 World Cup. The midfielder of the eagles has 52 caps in his resume.
