Pedro Pichardo renews contract with Benfica

Olympic, World, and European triple jump champion, Pedro Pichardo has renewed his contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica, a multi-year contract that includes the Paris 2024 Olympic cycle and the ambition for the next cycle. 

"Benfica is my home! To remain at home is an honor, it was Benfica who supported me when I made the decision to leave the country where I was born, and has supported me so that I can continue at the highest level. For me it is a great honor and I feel very happy", stated Pichardo.

And what does the Olympic, World and European Champion lack?

"I want to continue to add and defend the titles I have won. I want to continue winning titles for Benfica and for the country. I still have a small debt to myself, to achieve the world record, and I will work hard to do it", explained Pichardo, aiming at 18.29 meters, a mark that has belonged to Jonathan Edwards since 1995. Difficult? Yes! Impossible? No way!

"I am very competitive and very ambitious in sports and, until I finish my career, I want to keep achieving European, World and Olympic titles, and bring them to Benfica and to the country", he claimed.
