Benfica beat Maccabi Haifa by 2-0 with goals from Rafa and Grimaldo on matchday 1 of the Champions League group stage.

Rafa celebrates the 1-0 with his teammates
In the first match of the Champions League group H, Roger Schmidt made only one change to the starting eleven, fielding Bah in Gilberto's place.
Match commentary
Benfica clinched the three points: a 2-0 win (the 10th win in 10 official matches this season), with goals from Rafa and Grimaldo (named the "Man of the Match"). The Reds started with a win in Group H and joined Paris Saint-Germain, who beat Juventus 2-1 in Paris. The Champions League continues on Wed 14 with a trip to Turin. But for the moment the Reds will focus on Famalicão, where they play next Saturday, September 10, at 3:30 pm, on matchday 6 of the Liga Bwin.
