Tribute to Fernando Chalana

Sport Lisboa e Benfica informs that Fernando Chalana swill be honored on the pitch of Estádio da Luz, on Friday, August 12, at 3:30 pm.

The ceremony will be open to all those who wish to attend a final farewell to the Little Genius, and the entire Benfica nation is invited to pay tribute to the man who made us thrill so much on the pitch and established himself as one of the greatest figures of the Club and of Portuguese football.

Fernando Chalana's body will be in a chamber from tomorrow, Thursday, at the Basílica da Estrela, in Lisbon, from 7 pm to 10 pm. The wake will continue on Friday morning, starting at 10 am. A mass will be celebrated at 2:15 pm.

The funeral procession will then leave for the Estádio da Luz, where the stands will be open for a heartfelt tribute to Fernando Chalana.

The funeral will be concluded at Alto de São João Cemetery, where, at 5:30 pm, cremation will take place in a ceremony restricted to the family.

The Board of Directors of Sport Lisboa e Benfica has also decided that there will be no number 10 jersey in the first team''s squad this season, in an evocation of the memory of the unforgettable and unrivaled Fernando Chalana.
