UEFA and CONMEBOL have released the dates for the intercontinental events. Thus, putting head-to-head Benfica and Peñarol, the U-20 Intercontinental Cup will take place on August 21.

The new competition pits the winner of the UEFA Youth League against the winner of the U-20 Copa Libertadores. Benfica won the European competition after beating FC Salzburg by 0-6; the Uruguayans of Peñarol won the South American competition in the penalty shootout (3-4), after a 1-1 in the end of regulation time, against Independiente del Valle.

The Under-20 Intercontinental Cup will take place at the Estadio Centenario, in Montevideo (Uruguay).
