In a statement sent this Wednesday, May 18, to the Portuguese Securities Market (CMVM), Sport Lisboa e Benfica - Futebol, SAD informed that it has reached a final agreement to hire the coach Roger Schmidt for the next two sportive seasons (until 2024), which is expected to be formalized during the course of next week.

The German coach Roger Schmidt (55 years old) will arrive at Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Professional Football with three assistant coaches: Jens Wissing, Jörn-Erik Wolf and Yann-Benjamin Kugel.

Roger Schmidt's first official statement after the announcement of the deal was made to the Club's media: "Proud to be the new coach of Benfica and enthusiastic about the challenge at this great club. Together, we will use all the energy and experience to succeed."
