Gonçalo Ramos scored for the sixth time in the Liga Bwin and completed the comeback at the Portimão Estádio, at 50', leading Benfica to victory (1-2) on matchday 25. Distinguished as "Man of the Match", the young striker reaffirmed that the Eagles are in the fight for the Championship  .

"It is always important to be considered 'Man of the Match', but more important is that we got the three points in a difficult stadium. We had a setback early in the game [Portimonense's goal at 25'], but we showed our quality and tried to get around that adversity", commented Gonçalo Ramos, in statements to Sport TV.

Born in the Algarve (in Olhão), the Reds' number 88 has been a starter in the last six games in the Liga Bwin and scored for the second consecutive match in the competition. "I can continue to help the team as I have been doing. We will go after the three points in every game. Everything is up for grabs and we are still in the fight", he finished.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
