Darwin: "We must thank the fans for their support"

Darwin, the Benfica forward, was one of the players who fought the hardest for a different result against Bayern this Wednesday at the Estádio da Luz. The eagles lost by 0-4 on matchday 3 of group E of the Champions League, but they made "a good display"

"The truth is that we leave this match with a bitter taste. Bayern are a great team, but we put in a good performance in the first 65 minutes of the game. They opened the scoring through a set piece, We lost concentration, they pressed and scored three more goals. It hurt us a lot, but we must  think about the next game now", he analyzed.

The result is somewhat misleading, since Benfica had several opportunities denied by Neuer, the Germans' goalkeeper, one of them to the Uruguayan international, who, according to Sofascore, had 100% dribbling efficiency, on dangerous shot on target and won six of the eight individual duels in which he was involved. 

At Luz there were 55 201 spectators in total and unceasing support for the team. The number 9 shirt acknowledged and thanked the Benfiquistas.

"We must thank the fans for the support they gave us in this match and always do. We must give them joy", he admitted.
