Lucas Veríssimo, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's central defender, was called to the Brazil national team, which will play three matches of the South American FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers in early September.

After being left out of the Canarinha squad list for the matches that preceded the Copa America, against Ecuador and Paraguay due to injury, Lucas Veríssimo will now have the chance to make is debut for Brazil, who will step onto the pitch on September 2 against Chile, in Santiago do Chile, against Argentina, on Sep 5, in São Paulo, and against Peru, on Sep 9, in Recife.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.
