Sport Lisboa e Benfica informs that it has reached an agreement to sign the Tunisian basketball player Makram Ben Romdhane.

With experiences acquired in Spanish basketball (UCAM Murcia) and French basketball (Saint-Chamond and Fos Provence) during his career, Makram Ben Romdhane played at US Monastir (Tunisia) last season, club in which he received the "Manute Bol" award from the Africa Basketball League, which is given to those who practice the ideals of ethics, fair play, and integrity on the court. He was also elected for the best five of the competition.

In exclusive declarations to the Official Site, the small forward/center was extremely excited to arrive at a club of Sport Lisboa e Benfica's magnitude, after already amassing 23 titles in his sporting career. "For me, it is a new challenge and a new experience in my career.  I played in different countries and championships before and each one has its own charm and qualities so I’m so excited to discover a new basketball even though I have a good idea about the Portuguese championship", highlighted the future #12 jersey of the team led by Norberto Alves.

"Sl Benfica is one of the most popular and decorated teams in Portugal, it has a big history, and it’s always fighting for titles. As a player, I was always playing with teams whose playing for podiums and I still love that challenge. I’m used to it, so certainly I’ll do all that I can to be on that podium", continued the Tunisia international, who has already helped his country win, for example, two gold medals - in 2011 and 2017 - at AfroBasket.

"It is very difficult for a player to describe himself. I prefer people to discover my qualities as a player, but where I played they always called me a gladiator because of my hunger to win. All I can say is that I have leadership skills, I believe in teamwork and I always try to do my best, both in training and in games", he stressed.

It should be noted that, before traveling to our country, the player will represent Tunisia in the 2021 edition of AfroBasket, an event that will take place between August 24 and September 5, in Rwanda.
