Sport Lisboa e Benfica announces that it has signed the setter Bernardo Westermann, 23, for its men's volleyball team.

Coming from Vôlei Uberlândia, after spells at Botafogo, Sesi São Paulo, Vôlei Itapetininga and Fiat/Minas, the athlete was a U-21 international with the Brazilian national team and will now have his first experience in European volleyball.

"I am going to a country where few people know me, so I believe it is an opportunity to build a new image. I want to enjoy the experience and, as a new athlete, help the team with my willingness to work hard and play games", claimed Bernardo Westermann, in exclusive statements to the Official Site.

Benfica-Arouca: extended match highlights

Benfica drew (2-2) with Arouca on Sunday, April 13, in a match from matchday 29 of the Liga Betclic, played at the Estádio da Luz and marked by controversial refereeing that penalized the Eagles. At half-time there was time to pay tribute to two-time European champion José Augusto (who turned 88), Miccoli (the former player returned to the Cathedral) and the Inspiradoras, who became five-time national champions on Saturday.

Miccoli returned to the Estádio da Luz, where, on Sunday, April 13, during half-time of the Benfica-Arouca (2-2) match of round 29 of the Liga Betclic, he once again set foot on the pitch. Proud and grateful to the Benfica fans and the club, the former striker - who wore the Manto Sagrado in 2005/06 and 2006/07 - was greeted with applause from the fans, who watched images of some of his best moments with the eagle on his chest, in this beautiful tribute! “Go Benfica! Always,” shared the former player.

A heartfelt tribute to José Augusto!

Two-time European champion, synonymous with the Sport Lisboa e Benfica mystique, José Augusto was honored on Sunday, April 13, the day of his 88th birthday. During half-time of the Benfica-Arouca match, on matchday 29 of the Liga Betclic, he was applauded by the Benfiquistas and thanked for the gesture from the Presidential Tribune. There, in the box, in the presence of President Rui Costa, among José Augusto's friends and family, Happy Birthday was sung to one of the undeniable names in the history of the Glorioso.

On Saturday, April 12, the Inspiradoras celebrated winning the fifth national championship in a row after beating Valadares Gaia 0-3, on matchday 20 of the Liga BPI, with goals from Christy Ucheibe (29'), Cristina Prieto (42') and Beatriz Cameirão (75'). A trophy that they have added to the League Cup. Fervent in their support for the team, the Benfiquistas gave color to the celebration at the Estádio Dr. Jorge Sampaio, painted red and white.
