Eagles and Dragons play at 8:45 pm this Wednesday (Dec 23) the first trophy of the 2020/21 season, the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup.
22 December 2020, 16h21
What expectations do you have for the clássico?
Expectations are always according to the responsibility of the game. It is a final, a decision. It is not a championship match, nor a knockout match. When the decision is only in one match , expectations and strategies are different. Everyone wants to play.
Looking at the opponent, and taking into account that it has shown some variations throughout the season, what do you expect from FC Porto? One or two forwards?
FC Porto usually plays in a4x3x3 formation and when my colleague [Conceição] thinks he need more power, he plays with two forwards, but, usually, FC Porto's game philosophy has three players in the attack with a lot of mobility, more centralized in Marega. I don't think it should get too far away from that idea... There is nothing to hide, neither I to Sergio [Conceição], nor Sergio to me.
Jorge Jesus is a communicator, in and out of the dressing room. Looking back at your last conferences, there is a lack of victory dynamics in the speech. You also referred to Brazil at this conference. Why have you been so pragmatic? Is it a sad phase, lack of motivation, or nostalgia?
Sad? I have just said that over the years I have evolved and had more experience. So, my way of communicating, not only with the players, has changed. I must respect my opponents, whoever they may be. I have a lot of respect for the final and for our opponent. If you ask me if I'm confident and the players are confident and if we have the capacity and value to be able to beat FC Porto... One hundred percent confident! Without a doubt!
