Albert Casanovas: "Benfica was my best professional experience"

At Estádio da Luz since 2018/19 season, Albert Casanovas' connection to Sport Lisboa e Benfica's roller hockey will not continue last season.

First steps at the Club

"These have been very special days since my presentation. When I visited Estádio da Luz and the facilities, I realized the greatness of this club. When they say it is the biggest club in Portugal, that's just the way it is. When you feel the warmth the fans give you, it's something I've never experienced in the clubs where I've played before. It was very rewarding for me to play in such a big club."

End of career

"There comes a time when the body gets very tired and I wanted to be honest with my club, which was Benfica. I wasn't able to give 100% because of the two hernias on my back and it was a fair decision between me and the Club. Now it's enjoying another life that I'm starting and I'm really grateful for the opportunity I had to play at Benfica because it was my best professional experience, no doubt."

Message to the supporters

"On a personal level, Albert Casanovas will always have Benfica at heart. There's a Benfiquista here for life and I want you to believe that this team will continue to win Cups and titles. It's at an incredible level."
