STATEMENTS

The most recent new signing for the women's football team of Benfica! Caroline Van Slambrouck, a 27-year-old defender (28.09.1992), leaves the Icelandic football to wear the Sacred Mantle in the 2019/20 season.

Born in the United States, Caroline Van Slambrouck represented several clubs, such as Kansas Jayhawks and Houston Dash, in the United States, and Kungsbacka DFF and Sunnana SK, in Sweden.

Now in Portugal, the player confessed to being very happy for the opportunity to play in the Clube da Luz and already thinks about winning titles.

“I'm really excited to come to Benfica. It is a massive club in Europe and the opportunity to play at this stage is huge for me and team. I'm excited to see where the second half of the season is going to go and we are going to do. I want to win many titles”, claimed Caroline, in statements with BTV.

Five-time champions in celebration

The newly crowned five-time national champions, Benfica's women's football team, were present at the Benfica Official Store at the Estádio da Luz on Tuesday afternoon, April 15. The Inspiradoras interacted with the many fans who lined up - some even waited more than two hours for the session to start - and who didn't waste the opportunity to talk to the protagonists of the historic feat and remember the moment with photographs. From the youngest to the oldest, everyone left satisfied. “Filipa, you're the best coach in the world,” said one Benfica fan.

Benfica-Arouca: extended match highlights

Benfica drew (2-2) with Arouca on Sunday, April 13, in a match from matchday 29 of the Liga Betclic, played at the Estádio da Luz and marked by controversial refereeing that penalized the Eagles. At half-time there was time to pay tribute to two-time European champion José Augusto (who turned 88), Miccoli (the former player returned to the Cathedral) and the Inspiradoras, who became five-time national champions on Saturday.

Two-time European champion, synonymous with the Sport Lisboa e Benfica mystique, José Augusto was honored on Sunday, April 13, the day of his 88th birthday. During half-time of the Benfica-Arouca match, on matchday 29 of the Liga Betclic, he was applauded by the Benfiquistas and thanked for the gesture from the Presidential Tribune. There, in the box, in the presence of President Rui Costa, among José Augusto's friends and family, Happy Birthday was sung to one of the undeniable names in the history of the Glorioso.
