“It was a long journey, with a lot of work, a lot of success and achievements. It has been all very good and now I must continue doing my work", claimed the footballer, in statements to BTV.
Gonçalo Ramos arrived at Centro de Formação e Treino do Algarve in 2011/12, coming from SC Olhanense. In the following year, in 2013, he joined Caixa Futebol Campus, where he has been training with Benfica for nine seasons.
In 2015/16, the young player became Under-15 National Champion and two years later(2017/18), he was U-17 National Champion.
Las season (2018/19), he made his debut with Benfica B, (on January 13, 2019, against SC Braga). Overall - he played in five competitions -he racked up 44 matches for the reds (five for the B team, 28 in U-19 National Championship, three in the Liga Revelação, sete in the UEFA Youth League and one in the Premier League Internacional Cup) and 20 goals (18 in the Championship and two in the UEFA Youth League).
Recently, Gonçalo Ramos was in the spotlight at the Under-19 European Championship (in Armenia) and he was the competition's top scorer, with 4 goals.
“It's a reward for all the work I've done over the years. It's always good to start the season with this kind of performance at the European Championship”, he revealed.
With Portugal's youth national teams he has already amassed 21 caps and seven goals: ten matches and six goals in the U-19; 2 matches in the U-18; and 9 matches and one goal in the U-17.
