It was Benfica's second training session open to the Media during the first 15 minutes since the team arrived in the United States. Bruno Lage led a new working session in the training field of Stanford University.

The training session began, as usual, with the warm-up, done through stretching and some running. In a training session in which the ball was the protagonist, Bruno Lage and his coaching team insisted in exercises that privilege fast exchange, pass, and reception.

Just like in the Monday evening practice, 27 players stepped onto the pitch, but André Almeida did recovery work around the pitch.

Benfica kicks off the participation in the International Champions Cup on July 20 against Chivas, at 1:00 pm (9:00 pm in Mainland Portugal), at Levi’s Stadium. The remaining matches are against Fiorentina (July 24, 8:00 pm/July 25, 1:00 am in Mainland Portugal Continental), at the Red Bull Arena and against AC Milan (July 28, 3:00 pm/8:00 pm in Mainland Portugal), at Gillette Stadium.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
