In the night he returned to the starting XI, Jonas scored a goal and contributed for Benfica's qualification to the 4th round on the Portuguese Cup.
19 October 2018, 14h41
The forward, who still had not scored this season, won rhythm, confidence and scored his 10th goal in the Portuguese Cup. He came off at 77’ to give his place to Jota, who wore the first team jersey for the first time.
Jonas, who at the start of this season had some physical problems, had not scored since May 13th, 2018, in the 34th and final round of the National Championship, held at Estádio da Luz, against Moreirense, where he played as a starter and scored the winner through a penalty kick (1-0).
The Brazilian international has now returned to scoring goals, racking up a total of 10 in the Portuguese Cup, 10 in the League Cup, two in the Champions League, two in the Super Cup and 99 in the 99 in the Liga NOS.
Jonas is the second best foreign goal scorer in the history of Benfica, with 123 goals, only surpassed by Óscar Cardozo.
