Welcome, Gabriel!

Gabriel is the newest signing of Benfica for the 2018/19 season. The Brazilian signed a 5-year contract.

“It is an incredible feeling, I’m anxious for what is coming this atmosphere is incredible. It is an absurd happiness”, said to BTV.

The midfielder watched the derby of last Saturday against Sporting, had the first contact with the Benfica’s reality.

“The Estádio da Luz has a very good atmosphere, incredible. The supporters have provided a fantastic atmosphere. I was impressed! I enjoyed the eagle’s flight very much, it’s different. I also had the opportunity to take a look at the training center and I’m impressed. I’m very happy”, he recognized.

With was not easy to leave Leganés, something that brought a little anxiety to the player.  

“This month was very intense. To play for Benfica is a huge thing, involves many emotions. When we realize that it finally happened is a great feeling and it is rewarding.”

“I follow Benfica. There were always Brazilian players here. Benfica is a great team, which has the ambition to win all the championships.”

To midfielder also shows himself to the Benfiquistas.

“I’m both an attacking and offensive midfielder. I’m used to create the plays. I work a lot to help my teammates”, he revealed.

At the moment of the decision, his family and friends were determinant by sharing the way the benfiquismo is lived.

“I have a cousin who worked in Lisbon, I have friends. I was told about the way the Benfica’s supporters. I’m aware of my mission and I will try to do it the best way”, he assured.
