Gedson: "The fans show the Club's greatness"

The official debut for Gedson Fernandes, at the age of 19, for the first team of SL Benfica, in an evening in which the eagles beat Fenerbahçe, by 1-0, gaining a precious advantage in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League.

The midfielder is at the Club since the age of 9 and it was with great pride and joy that he lived this moment.

“It was an excellent feeling to play in front of our supporters, it was something new and I am very happy. The team performed well, we played good football and we are very happy with the victory”, he started by saying.

“The result was scarce for what the team did, we deserved more, the opponent tried to break the pace, but we were superior, we always played thinking on the victory and got the triumph”, added Gedson.

Next, the player praised the Benfica family, in a evening in which the Estádio da Luz registered a attendance of 57 878 spectators.

“The fans show the Club's greatness, they are passionate, they give their best and we must repay that on the pitch”.

“I arrived here at the age of 9, it was a dream come true to play a Champions League match. Any academy player would be happy and proud.”, he concluded.
