Benfica, coached by Bruno Lage, made a fantastic recovery in the league table and has the best point and goal average in the 2nd half of Europe's top 7 leagues. The team is just one point away from the much-desired goal: the Reconquest!

The flight of the eagle in the 2nd half of the league has been imperial, in 16 matches, the balance is highly positivefifteen wins and just one draw resulted in 46 points amassed.

The 46 points that Benfica from Bruno Lage won, up to now, are the best average of Europe’s top seven leagues (2,9).

2nd half of the season: Europe's Top 7 Leagues

TEAM GOALS SCORED AVERAGE
Benfica 62 (16 matches) 3,9
Paris Saint-Germain 50 (17 matches) 2,9

Manchester City 51 (19 matches) 2,7
Juventus 30 (17 matches) 1,8
Zenit 22 (13 matches) 1,7

The 2nd half of quality is also evidenced by victories in the ground where it is theoretically difficult to win. Looking at the league table, we see that Benfica won away against the Championship’s top nine clubs: FC Porto, Sporting, Braga, Moreirense, V. Guimarães, Rio Ave, Santa Clara, and Boavista.

Classico

Since the 1990/91 season, 28 years ago, that the Reds did not win away against FC Porto, Sporting e Braga in the same season. From 18 points at stake in these six matches (mini-league) in 2018/19, Benfica has amassed 16 (five win and one draw).

The Reconquest is closer, but there are still 90 minutes left to play, where the 12th player will be even more important than ever. Benfica welcomes Santa Clara to  Estádio da Luz, in a match from the last round of the Liga NOS.
