On that day, the reds introduced Luís Martins as a new feature on the left side of the defense and Cardozo, Saviola and Nolito in the substitutes' bench. On the other end, were names such as Yann Sommer, Granit Xhaka and Shaqiri.
Benfica entered the game on the front foot and Rodrigo opened the scoring in the 5th minute. Huggel scored the equalizer in the 64th minute.
In this group stage, Benfica finished Group C in the first place, with 12 points, followed by Basel, with 11, and faced Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Round of 16 of the competition.
