The captain of SL Benfica, Luisão, have reached, with the conquer of the Cândido Oliveira Super Cup, his 20th trophy with the eagle on the chest.

With this number, the Brazilian breaks a record and becomes the most successful player in the Club's History. The emblematic Nené (19 trophies), is now on the second place.

LUISÃO’S 20 TROPHIES:

- 7 League Cups

- 6 National Championships

- 4 Cândido Oliveira Super Cups

- 3 Portuguese Cups

 

At the end of the match, Luisão talked to the journalists... 

“It was a marvelous and memorable night. I came to the Club with the aim to make History, and today I feel privileged because I did it. But it’s a title of Benfica, Benfica is above all of us. I'm very happy”, he said.

“We are a family. And we don't need to talk about our dressing room”, he added.

Benfica-Arouca: extended match highlights

Benfica drew (2-2) with Arouca on Sunday, April 13, in a match from matchday 29 of the Liga Betclic, played at the Estádio da Luz and marked by controversial refereeing that penalized the Eagles. At half-time there was time to pay tribute to two-time European champion José Augusto (who turned 88), Miccoli (the former player returned to the Cathedral) and the Inspiradoras, who became five-time national champions on Saturday.

Miccoli honored at Estádio da Luz

Miccoli returned to the Estádio da Luz, where, on Sunday, April 13, during half-time of the Benfica-Arouca (2-2) match of round 29 of the Liga Betclic, he once again set foot on the pitch. Proud and grateful to the Benfica fans and the club, the former striker - who wore the Manto Sagrado in 2005/06 and 2006/07 - was greeted with applause from the fans, who watched images of some of his best moments with the eagle on his chest, in this beautiful tribute! “Go Benfica! Always,” shared the former player.
