Tomás Araújo signs a professional contract

Tomás Lemos Araújo, a 16-year-old center-back (16.05.2002), penned a professional contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica. The contract is valid until 2021.

He defends the colors of the eagles since 2016/17 and before that, he represented Palmeiras FC, of the AF Braga. He also went through the Evolution Soccer Academy and Operário FC, from Famalicão, where he began his footballing career.

In his first season at Benfica, Tomás Araújo became a U-15 National Champion.

On April 25th, 2017, in a match between Itália and Portugal (0-2), he got the first of 14 caps, up to now, for Portugal youth national teams. He made four matches for the U-15 and 10 for the U-16.

In 2017/18, Tomás Araújo played in 29 matches for the U-16 team in the District Championship (Honor Division) of the AF Lisboa.
