The journey of the U-19 with the title in sight

With three rounds remaining in the Under-19 championship round, Benfica is the leader, with a seven-point led over the second placed, and is one small step away, just a victory, from celebrating the national title. At 5:00 pm on Saturday, João Tralhão's team hosts Leixões at the Caixa Futebol Campus.

In the 11 rounds already played in this phase, Benfica is the only undefeated team, bagging eight victories and three draws, making a total of 27 points. 

In the previous round, Benfica played in front of its fans and beat Sporting (3-1), removing the rival from the title race. Braga, the other title contender, dropped points at home against V. Guimarães (1-1).

UNDER-19 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS

There are relevant numbers in the journey made so far by the U-19 Eagles' squad. In the offensive chapter, Benfica has 24 goals scored (an average of 2,18 per match).

In the defensive level, the youngsters led by João Tralhão have shown a great efficiency, only nine goals conceded (an average of 0,81 per game).

It is the team with the least goals conceded in this championship round, in which there have been used 22 players. The right-back Luís Pinheiro, with 985 minutes played, leads this ranking, followed by the captain João Filipe (Jota), with 976 minutes.

In terms of goals scored, João Félix is clearly the standout performer: with 14 accurate strikes in this championship round, the young forward is the top scorer, boasting an average of 1,40 goals per match.
