The Official Website gathered information of all teams in the Championship and concluded that none has more players scoring and assisting (in the same match) than Benfica.
21 March 2018, 12h59
With a tremendous second round (the team with the most points achieved), Benfica is only two points behind the leader, and depends on itself to win the Championship again, the club is also the leading scorer Liga NOS, with 71 goals and still the one the great majority of players straight influence in the result of the same match.
The group importance, the dynamic and the fact that everyone counts on the game process are some of the ideas already highlighted by the coach Rui Vitória. The Liga NOS is a marathon, there are several contingences over time and the role of each is much more than one single task. The modern football is this and the Benfica’s players, when participating directly in a result with goals and assistances, are doing it right, the way it should be.
And this journey started right on the Matchday 1, against SC Braga. Right then, Jonas assisted Seferovic for the eagles’ first goal and scored too. It was the beginning of what would happen five more times (against Belenenses, V. Setúbal and Rio Ave at Luz, V. Guimarães and Moreirense away). In fact, in this particular question, no one comes closer of the championship’s top scorer. The ones behind only have goals and assists on half of the matches (Marega and Nakajima).
With the eagles, special prominence to three players who scored and assisted in two matches: Salvio (Estoril and Tondela), Pizzi (Tondela and Rio Ave) and Jardel (Rio Ave and Boavista). These are joined by André Almeida, Zivkovic and Raúl, who joined the list after the match against Feirense. Came out from the bench, scored the first one and assisted Rafa, a few minutes later, for the final 0-2.
The closest club is FC Porto, with 12 matches where its players scored and assisted in the same match. Interestingly, the podium is not completed by Sporting (the players scored and assisted only in five occasions), but with two teams from Alto Minho: SC Braga and V. Guimarães, both with six. A reference to Portimonense, which puts six players in this ranking.
