The Portuguese canoeist Fernando Pimenta will be a Benfica athlete until December 2021.

At the age of 28, the Silver medalist in the 2012 Olympic Games, in London, in the category of K2 1000 meters, arrives at Luz to repay with victories and medals the bet made by the eagles.

Nurtured at Clube Náutico de Ponte de Lima, where he began in 2001, the canoeist became, in 2017, World Champion in K1 5000 meters, with the time of 20m46s907; the day before he had won the Silver medal in K1 1000 meters. In that same year, he was European Champion in K1 1000 meters.

In 2016 he had already won the European Championships in the categories of K1 1000 meters and 5000 meters.

With several titles and medals, Fernando Pimenta has a large list of triumphs. The main achievements are the eight medals in World Championships, 19 in European Championships and 22 in World Cups. The canoeist also won 40 National Championships.

With the results obtained throughout the career, he has already rewarded with several decorations. On May 27, 2015, with decoration of Grande-Oficial da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique and on July 10, 2016, with the decoration of Comendador da Ordem de Mérito.
