The Adidas/Benfica award was delivered to Jardel, the Man of the Match against Rio Ave. The game of the Matchweek 21 ended with a rout victory, by 5-1… but it was not easy!

Jardel, with a goal and an assistance, was determinant. Therefore, in an election carried out by the users of the Official Facebook of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, the Brazilian defender, who has reached this Saturday the landmark of 200 matches with the red jersey, was elected Man of the Match.

“I'm very happy for the victory and also for the 200 matches with Benfica. It is a historic moment in my life. Happy with the goal and for helping the team to achieve the victory, which was the most important”, he said, to BTV.

Some emotion when remembering the 200 matches…

“Yes, definitely, not even in my best dream I would imagine what I'm living today. I'm very happy. I thank all, my teammates - who also helped me -, the supporters, who are always with us, our president, who is also supporting us, every day in Seixal. Now it's time to move on and try to reach our goal”, concluded Jardel.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.
