Álvaro Carreras reached 50 appearances for Benfica's professional football team in the 0-1 over Monaco in the first leg of the Champions League knockout stage play-off. The Spanish Under-21 international arrived at the club in January 2024 – on loan from Manchester United - and made his debut on the 24th of that month, in the semi-final of the League Cup against Estoril. Álvaro Carreras made 16 appearances in the 2023/24 season and scored his first goal for Benfica on April 22, against Farense. Aquired permanently, signing a contract until 2029, the left-back made 34 appearances in 2024/25, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
