Reaching Olympus - Participation of Benfica athletes in the Olympic Games

Dream (almost) fulfilled

Fernando Pimenta won his second Olympic medal, and the second canoe medal for Portugal, in his third Olympic Games. In Tokyo, the canoeist won the bronze medal in K1 1000m, with a time of 3.22.478 min, fulfilling his dream of winning an Olympic medal in an individual event, after winning the silver medal with Emanuel Silva in K2 1000m at London 2012. He said he was happy with the achievement, but had ambitions of becoming an Olympic champion in the future:

“Getting this podium was very important, and I still have a lot to give to national sport. I'm never satisfied. In my head I always want to improve and be the fastest to the finish line.”
