To be able to celebrate the second title in a row, a feat the Club had missed for the last 31 years, Benfica would have to win one more match or pull out the same result as their direct rival: FC Porto. Fully motivated, the players went to the field and organised successive attacks but they were not able to score. And then good news arrived: FC Porto had just conceded a tie in Restelo! Tension and anxiety grew as the minutes passed. In the end of Benfica’s match the marker remained null but it was enough to ensure the final victory. Thousands of fans in the country and all over the world celebrated the title. The Championship closed magnificently with a celebration where the “Inferno of Luz” touched the sky as Luisão raised the cup.
