National Championship 1968/69

Perfect ending
Three-time champions for the third time, Benfica won its eighth title of the decade. In a very competitive edition, and having to face a fierce competition from FC Porto, V. Guimarães and V. Setúbal, the “Reds” ended up being the best team summing one more victory (two points) than the 2nd classified squad, FC Porto. Brazilian manager Otto Glória repeated the feat with a ribbon across his chest and became the manager with most titles in the competition in Benfica’s history with four triumphs. The ‘60s ended perfectly for Benfica for in June, the Cup was conquered and the fifth "double" was achieved.
