Luís Filipe Vieira

31/10/2003 - 15/07/2021

The longest presidency

Experienced in the administration of Benfica SAD (Public Limited Sports Company) and playing a crucial part in the construction of the new stadium, Luís Filipe Vieira overcame the Club’s chaotic financial situation and brought back the much-desired titles. Benfica was four-time champion for the first time and returned to the European finals. Other sports met a new cycle of national and international conquests as well. With an entrepreneur and meritorious vision, Benfica became the Club with the most associate members in the world and benefited from the use of the electronic voting system as a way of ensuring democratic decentralisation. Two pavilions and the swimming pool were built, and the training centre (2006) inaugurated. In 2013, the Museum opened; finally, the dream came true. He received the Águia de Ouro (Golden Eagle) in 2006. In 2021 he resigned the term to which he had been elected on October 20, 2020.
