After an unsteady start in the League, Benfica reached the 33rd title! Closing the Championship’s initial round in 1st place, the team no longer lost this position throughout the competition. With a victory over Olhanense at Estádio da Luz, the "Red" squad claimed the title with two matches to spare and took this opportunity to pay homage to the "Black Panther". All over the world fans rejoiced with this victory however Marquês de Pombal roundabout in Lisbon was the chosen site to celebrate. In May, the Club achieved an historical feat conquering two more trophies, the League Cup and Portuguese Cup, accomplishing a unique treble in Portugal.
