National Championship 1993/94

The 30th title, and a 6-3 at Alvalade!
Led by Toni, Benfica won the 30th and last title in the 20th century, two points ahead of FC Porto and three ahead of Sporting. In a very balanced championship, Benfica stood out especially in the matches against its main rivals. If the 2-0 win at home over FC Porto, opening the 2nd round, could be seen as a premonition of Benfica’s victory, the win away over the “lions”, when there were only four matches to go, was clamorous and conclusive: 6-3. João Pinto was the author of a sensational hat-trick and stood out with an outstanding performance.
