National Championship 1974/75

Defensive stability
After a brilliant triumph, on the 22nd matchday in FC Porto's field by 3-0, Benfica saw the title getting closer. On the 29th matchday, one match to the end of the competition, a one-goal tie in Sporting's venue was enough to secure the title, in the only season Yugoslav manager Milorad Pavid led the team. The “red” team ended the National five points ahead of FC Porto and six ahead of Sporting. The defensive stability of the team was their main feat, suffering only 12 goals in 30 matches, less than half of any of their most direct opponents. This was also the farewell season of two legends: European champions Simões and Eusébio.
